If you want to spend 500-1000 on a spray in than do rhino or line x. I have heard of rhino and line x fading and chipping. From my experience rhino and line x have a more rubber feel while herculiner is more solid and gritty. So far my herc turned out great will see how it turns out after throwing some stuff in the back. Herc is great if you like doing things yourself and saving money if that is not you than definitely get rhino. It will take at least 6hrs to do a good job with herc. first I cleaned out my bed then sanded down rust spot and flaking paint. then powerwashed the bed. when it dried i took a sanding pad and removed all the gloss from the paint then wipe the entire bed down with acetone and let it dry. After this I put the first coat down and let it dry for 2hrs and then went on with the second coat. Eventually I will put a third coat on since I have an extra quart sitting around. 6hrs time and $90 for a nice looking tough bed liner seems like a deal to me.

Pics would be awesome. I agree the right prep and patience is the key. I have the over the rail drop in right now (came with the truck) and don't really care for it. I am moving to Biloxi MS from Colorado in a few months and am afraid what the salty air and humidity might do under the drop in liner in that environment. I was looking at doing a herc liner myself.
I have to agree also, it's the prep work that must be followed. I did the sanding and cleaning before appying it and mine turned out great. I took my time taping of areas for a professional look. You also have to keep stirring the can or the granules or whatever you want to call them sink to the bottom. I used one of those attachments that you put in the end of a drill and it worked great.

also if you read my post above, with the link,
you will see that iv had a rhino liner in my old 99 dodge for 10 years
and i abused the hell out of it constantly, im talking loads of stone and rock..lumber , tools and equipment, snowmobiles drivin in and out
and tons of other abuse,, and i promise you
it hasnt chipped.. faded or peeled at all
if there wasn't a ton of crap in it, i take a pic for you
I have heard people say they have been anywhere from 500-1000 I have not personally called for an estimate. I was just trying to say that I have known people who have had rhino chip and fade. Heard the same from a few that have done herc. It probably all come down to how they are using it. If I could afford it I would definitely rather have rhino or line x but I am just saying that for $90 herc is definitely worth it if you are on a tight budget.
Line-X is superior to Rhino as it isn't polyurethane based and is much tougher. Line-X is even used on the walls of the Pentagon. That says a lot. With that said, I wasn't very impressed with the $450 they charged my father for his F-150. So I decided to go the Herculiner route with my 2nd gen and am very happy. Over two years so far and it still looks great. I would recommend using the UV coat if you want to prevent fading. Any spray in line will fade without proper UV protection. But honestly, who cares, it's going to be used for work.
When I ripped out the Drop in, found a few rust spots, and about 10 pounds of dirt.
Had a buddy help me sand it all down.
First Coat
Second and last coat, I felt it came out pretty darn well.
As said previously, it really is all in the prep work, and if you take your time and do it properly, it will last a long time. And if anything chips or scrapes(which has only happened once to me) you just touch it up, simple as that.
I say if you wanna save a few buccs, go with Herculiner, do it right, and you'll love the stuff.

I didn't put any uv protection on so I guess I will see what happens. I figure if it fades a little I will just put another coat on since I still have a qt left.
