Default iPod(mp3 player) add-on options to stock stereo

I have a 2005 RAM 1500 with a stock stereo (6 disk changer) and factory premium sound with which I am really happy.
The only addition I would like to have is a iPod input option. I have tried the FM modulator but the sound does lose a lot of it’s quality.

Are there any ideas that I can explore that just gives me the option to plug in an mp3 player to the stock stereo?

Thank You!

There is an aftermarket kit you can get for it that works similar to the way you can add an amp to the factory unit by adding your own RCA jacks. I'll have to ask my neighbor about them when I get home as he deals with alot of car audio devices like that. I know it is something I will be doing later on.

I bought an FM modulator from Crutchfield, don't remember the price, but it works great. I think it was around $50 bucks, actually here it is.
