How can I tell if my truck came with the factory tow package? I've got an 03 1500 SLT, it appears to have a factory hitch and the 7 pin plug in for the lights appears to be factory too as it's mounted inside my bumper. I am looking at towing a trailer that weighs roughly 3000lbs plus 2 sleds weighing about 1000 lbs together. I want to make sure I can tow this trailer before I buy it.

Factory hitch or not. 3,000lbs is nothing for these trucks.
I hope your not pulling 2 sleds on a 3,000lb trailer...lol I assume you mean 2 different trailers?
Eitherway, 4,000lbs is nothing as long as your trailers have brakes.

because that's crazy. A normal 2 sled trailer weighs under 1,000lbs. Why pull all that extra weight for no good reason? A 3,000lb trailer is like a tandem axle car trailer....lmao

get a build sheet from dodge, find out what the truck is equipped with from the factory and start from there

I checked the hitch right after I posted this and it is the round style hitch so it appears that this is a factory install. My only problem now is that it does appear that my truck has the 3.55 gears, which I have heard aren't the best for towing.
As for my trailer, right now I am towing a 12x8 SledBed 3 place trailer which weighs about 800 lbs empty and close to 2000 with our 2 sleds on it. I am buying an enclosed trailer this fall which will weight close to 3000lbs when it's all said and done. After adding in the sleds, gear and fluids I thinik it will be closer to 4500 all together. With trailer brakes and an qualizer hitch, will my truck pll this ok?
I checked the cooler also, looks like there are about 4 of them so I'm not sure which one is which. My truck has never even come close to getting hot when towing and it does tow with relative ease. Is there any other way to tell if I have the factory tow package other than contacting Dodge? Didn't the package come with different gearing also?
