Default How Many Miles Is Too Many?

Looking at a 02' 1500 4.7 liter with 4.56 gears K&N CAI and with 150,000mi on the clock it has a six in' lift on 35 in yokohamas one owner
should i stay away from something with so many miles or is it good for another 40-50k with proper maitnence? also what does a motor rebulid run roughly just in case? Thanks in advance this seems like a great source of information for a prospective and most likely soon to be Ram owner.

ide run away fast..but thats just me, most likely a lifted 4x4 has been abused a little bit more and might offer up a little more probs than a stock truck with similar mileage, your prolly gonna end up replacing alot of suspension parts as a lift and 35"s cause a little bit more stress on things (ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, cv axles exct...) also how much is he wanting? shoot for the right price ide overlook that stuff ...

Not worth it.

Also an 04 w/46kmi same thing go for $4900

You are basically paying him for the mods he's done to truck then at that point.

3rd Gen Ram's are solid trucks and can last a ton of miles properly maintained. Unfortunately, with that many miles, I'd be very leery of it. Have it most definitely looked at by a mechanic...

Doesn't mean its a bad buy. I'd talk with the owner and see what information he can provide regarding maintenance and what have you..

I wouldn't worry about the miles, I have yet to own a vehicle with less than 100k and have had a couple over 200k and one over 300k and have never had to do any repairs other than brakes tires and a couple fuel pumps. but it is definitly important how the PO treated it and drove it. I think the value of used trucks is going up because there are becoming harder to find. I would check around look at a couple auction websites to see what similar trucks are going for and check auto trader and possibly cars.com maybe car max to get some price range.
