yes at 10k oil change intervals im not surprised. when i used to put mobil 1 in my car it was nice til i hit about 500 miles then plenty of noise and vibrations, then i changed to pennzoil platinum and very little vibration and noise compared to the mobil 1 i used to use. but still you cant go wrong with the initial oil change interval 2800mi or revised 3000mi. granted alot of syn oils say they dont need to be changed at xxxxmi, my feelings on engine oil is even if you have synthetic i still change it at 3k. you can go higher but the oil companies are changing so much recently that you never know what your getting. for example the mobil 1 now is garbage compared to other synthetics now but 3 years ago mobil 1 was untouchable. the reason being they changed their formula to stay with technology but their particular combo didnt work. so i stick with the 3k. just because you can go higher doesnt always necessarily mean you should. sure it gets a bit more expensive than changing your oil at 10k but i like my piece of mind in that situation.

I just prefer to raise the question, "Is too much preventative maintainance a bad thing when it comes to something you love?". I was raised to believe the answer is no. Besides I like what I have and would like to keep it. all the more reason for me to take care of it.

all my personnal info is based off of my camaro, i dont expect to be radically different for truck oils. i personnaly put amsoil at the top. and without spending the coin i personnaly like pennzoil platinum. stay away from mobil 1. i will never touch that stuff again. but i think of RP like Lucas products. they are known because of tv. corporate folks paying money to expose specific products. i dont expect most motorsports fans use only autozone parts because its on the tv. i will only use injector cleaner from lucas but even that doesnt need to be done often. for those who want to do some self investigating http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/ check it out. plenty of info. then you also have this http://blackstone-labs.net/(wudd2ren...q)/signin.aspx which is a 3rd party testing company. they will do tests for you if you want. and the first link can answer any questions that you have about testing. im sure the info you want for comparisons is on the first link.

Well as far as MPG gains, I've seen none in the truck, but my Hemi Tick is noticeably quieter after I switched from Mobil 1 in the truck.

As far as my Jeep goes, I put Royal Purple almost everywhere in it in Sept of '07. Crankcase, both diffs and transfer case. It did develop a small chatter going really slow turning the wheel all the way, so a half bottle of friction modifier was required in each diff to completely quiet the lockers.

The Jeep has enjoyed a solid 2 mpg increase ever since, and the oil at 6000 mile changes visually appears to be in much better shape than Mobil 1 did at 3000 miles.

Just my own observations on my vehicles...

With all my mods I can say none have helped my MPGs..........but thankfully they havent gotten worse either. My biggest killer is letting the truck sit and idle for any decent amount of time. Thats what kills mine
