Still working the problem, third filter brand. Beginning to think it isn't a filter by-pass issue. I'll install the new sender (switch-oil) unit this weekend. MotorHead, I see what you are saying, just another Ram greamlin but it takes two starts to get one ride.

nope, just checked the oil. been a month and half since oil change. Still full. Checked in the tb also. Dry.

Today, I did remove and replace the oil pressure switch and it corrected the initial start check gauge problem. 1st try, it started as normal, all gauges indicating in the good.
Maybe the diaphragm had sprung beyond design limits and didn't have the snap on the first start to open with just air in the line, then the pcm sees no pressure and sets the ck gauge lite/alarm ding. The 2nd start would have oil in the line, snaps open the switch, the pcm would get the sig there is pressure, good to go maybe for another 9k miles.
