thinking of putting 2 or 3 12 inch jl w1 v2 subs in my mega cab. my question is does any one have 3 subs in a truck box? how it sound? i know there sealed airspace is 1.25 cubic feet and the box i can get for 3 is 1.26 cubic feet each chambered. but mount depth for sub is 5 1/8 and box is 5 1/4. im wondering if would sound better 2 or 3 subs in a truck box..

if your mount depth is greater than the box depth than it wont matter. custom build on that will meet the sub airspace requirements. and the more the merrier.

the depth for sub says top mounting depth ? but i figure i could squezze it in with a shave of the mdf on the inside. the magnet should only hit on the top side since its at a angle. that or spacer front of box.
honestly build your own box for the mega cab you get better airspace and the mounting depth you need plus the satisfaction of doing it your self....its not as hard as it seems....if you need any help just ask me or the other guys ive built dozens of enclosures.....

That's where planning ahead comes into play then. If you built the box and didn't know the airspace it'll have before the first cut, your skipping steps. The tape measure is your freind and your formula for air space is the (length minus material thickness) times (width minus material thickness) times (height minus material thickness) divided by 1728.
3/4" MDF x2 = y
(L-y)(W-y)(H-y)
1728
So if I have an 18" long by 7" wide by 15" high box I'd subtract the thickness of MDF we'll say it's standard 3/4" x2, 1 1/2", and my internal measurements are 16.5" x 5.5" x 13.5" = 1225.125 divided by 1728 = 0.7 cubic feet of airspace for my theoretical box.

What are you looking to do here. Hide the subs under the seats so people can still sit back there or are you willing to take up the back of the cab? Two totally different things. Personally, I fiber-glassed under the seats and used MDF to build up the box to just under the seats. I have about 1 cubic foot of airspace per sub with two 10 alpine type Rs (500 W RMS x 2 @ 1 ohm to the amp).
If you're willing to bolt a box to the floor and take up your back seats, you could actually fit say 3 15s. I've seen that done, where the entire box was built up like this \_/ with one sub on each straight area. The subs were actually at about head height when you sat in the truck, thus making the back of a 4 door truck all sub enclosure.
Let us know what you're looking for and we can help.
im goin to be putting them in a box behind my rear seat (Mega cab) like a truck box for a single cab would have. 3 12s i found a pre fab box new its 49.99 with 1.26 cube feet each chamber. the jl w1 v2 require 1.25 i have to measure my space to see if it work. or build a box that will
