Great write up. I have an 07 and will be putting the spacers and shocks in this weekend or next. I couldn't have asked for a better tutorial. I have exactly the same truck, but with a hemi, and have been wanting to know if a leveling kit would clear 33"s on a 2wd and whether installing the spacers was feasible. Now I know. Thanks again.

Haven't done one, but I imagine you would remove the strut, bolt the spacer into the bucket and then reinstall the strut attaching to the spacer. Pretty simple. DEFINITELY get an alignment if you do it. I'm gonna save a few extra pennies and get the Rancho quicklift http://www.gorancho.com/products/shocks/quicklift.php

I know this thread is old, but I found it through Google. Anyways, I installed this kit on Friday. Your tutorial was a big big help. Thank you for taking the time to post all of this.
My problem is: I re-installed the factory shocks and the ride quality is horrible. So bad, I almost feel like taking the spacers back off. I LOVE the look, I just hate the ride. When you installed the ES3000 shocks, did the ride quality improve? Do you remember exactly what part number you ordered? Did you put them side by side to the factory shocks and were they in fact longer? By how much?
I was having a place install a leveling kit this morning on my 06. They thought I had struts so they couldn't do it as that is all they had. I will be using this tutorial and doing the spacers now. So the ride is pretty bad? Maybe I should just do it all at once.

The ride is absolutely terrible with the stock shocks. I have been driving like this for a week now. Grrrrrrr. My advice? Don't do it until you get some longer shocks and do it all at the same time. I think I have the problem solved. I picked up some Ford Expedition shocks from AutoZone today. I will install them tomorrow and see what happens.
The problem with the stock shocks is that there is only 4.5" of total travel. So let's just say the shock sits right in the middle of that while the truck is sitting still or 2.25". Add a 2" lift kit and you only have 1/4" of down travel. Not good. Anyways the Ford Expedition 2WD shocks are 2" longer than Dodge Ram shocks and they look like they will bolt right on. I put them on the counter at AutoZone side by side and measured everything and it should work.
Let's just hope for no rain tomorrow. I'd go out and do it RIGHT NOW, but it is raining.
