Default 2009 Dodge Ram Review

Read the review here.

What are your thoughts on the 2009 Dodge Ram? Can it compete with the 2009 F-150 and the newest Chevy Silverado?

Can it compete?

Bottom line is people usually buy based on one of three things

1. Looks. This is very objective and there is no wrong answer. Most common thing that will influence the purchase.
2. Brand loyalty.
3. Performance numbers.

From the reviews the Dodge 1500 can not compete with the F-150 in towing. Since a high percentage of the trucks will never tow, and the ones that do tow something will be far less than the capacity, this is not an issue for most.

I buy based on a mix of 1 and 3, which is why I would never buy a Ford (I am not taking towing into consideration, not important to me). GM is in play for me though.

Ford claims the reputation of the best selling truck, not the best built truck, Dodge is marketing to the beat the crap out your truck group and Gm is stating they have the best milage rattings of a full size truck.

Toyota is going after the bigger is better crowd with a full size truck.

What ever is wrong with a specfic brands ownership's expeirance is going to drive them away, Ford is never going to a option for me, Dodge is proving to be better than Ford, Never owned a Gm, but drive a lot of them threw my employer.

Put a 6 speed automatic in the Ram and stiffen that rear suspension on the Ram and there will be very little to whine about with the Ram. The trans is way overdue anyway and I believe that "optional" springs are in the works.

well it sucks because they were going to come out with a world beating transmisson that would save 2-3 mpg This is a very exciting system - think of cutting 1-2 seconds off each car's 0-60 times while raising gas mileage, and making the car more pleasant to drive.
http://allpar.com/corporate/auto-man...nsmission.html just copy and paste to read However, it now appears that, as part of Cerberus’ attempt to swap Chrysler for GMAC, the transmissions will not be made for Chrysler; the contract with Getrag to produce them has been broken. (10/20/2008).

it really depends what the buyer is looking for in a truck. The Ram has a nice ride with its rear coils, and a very nice interior. And on top of its technology, I think it will definitely win some buyers.

The 09 ram is way ahead of my '08. I think that they did a good job on the styling and the interior is outstanding. I would add a number 4 to the list above. That is quality. Right or wrong, Dodge has taken it on the nose for poor quality.
