Default Help removing the grill

Will someone please tell how to remove the grill

The owners manuel says "remove the four grille attachment bolts, remove the grille.

I removed the 4 bolts but I can't get the grill to come out. I must be missing something.

I'm trying to install some HID bulbs and need to get to the headlight assembly.

Thanks

Stick your fingers at the lower corners of the grill and give it a sharp yank. There's a tab at each corner the holds the grill.

MAKE SURE YOU PUT SOME BLUE PAINTERS TAPE BELOW THE GRILLE ON TOP OF THE BUMPER IF YOU HAVE A SPORT OR HAVE HAD YOUR BUMPER PAINTED SO YOU DON'T SCRATCH IT!

Do you need to take the whole grille out or just one of the inserts?

Thanks for letting us know about the tape.

Speaking of, it was a pain to get up in the engine compartment without scratching the top of the bumper. I miss the old Ram's step plate on the front bumper.

Wow, I just noticed that the black pad on top of the bumper is gone. Sarguy, you are right, that will be missed. The 3rd gen engine compartment was much easier to reach than the current gen. The fenders are much higher and the engine is much further back, not to mention the grille is fixed in place.

What are you guys doing that you need to get into the engine compartment?

It's a new truck, it's not like you guys are installing headers or superchargers on this thing already, they're not out yet for this truck. Are they?

To remove the headlight assembly you need to remove the grille to get at the headlight assembly bolts.

Wow,
So when we have a headlight burn out, its take the grille out. That's kinda nutty. I have changed the bulb on my 03 and 04 GMs on its one little rod and out it goes, same on my daughter's 2000 Mustang. I never had to change a single bulb on my 02 Ram in seven years. I hope that I have the same results with my 09.
