Default P 1004 code

I hope nobody else gets this code but there are several trucks out with the defective Short Runner Valve. My truck has been in the shop for a wk and a half waiting on parts. To fix this the intake has to be pulled along with all other parts involved in that. Its sad to have a new truck with 2400 miles go through this.

theres a TSB for this. involves replacing short runner valve & overlay harness for runner. sucks that it happened to you. FWIW, i got 2500 on mine, and it looks like my rear main is starting to seep a little.

Really? Does it drip on the driveway or is it just on the seal?

You guys keep it down, ive only got 1,000 miles on mine and you guys are going to give me nightmares. Lifetime powertrain warranty and ive only got another 1500 miles until my truck will be in the shop all the time waiting on parts that dont exist *shiver*

What engine is this affecting?
Where did you find the TSB on it? I searched Dodge and NHTSA listings and found nothing.

no drips--yet. both sides of the block are a little damp. nothing to really worry about right now. i checked underneath when our oil guy did my oil change. thats when i found it, kinda pissed me off. now that i know about it, im gonna keep an eye on it. if i see the slightest drip forming, ill put in some dye.

honestly, its nothing to worry about right now. for the most part, the new 5.7 is the same as the old one, therefore should be just as reliable. the 1004 code is mainly caused by the harness for the short runner valve not being long enough or not routed right. my potential "oil leak" is no big deal to me (thanks to lifetime warranty). i talked to one of our engine guys yesterday, hes never done a 5.7 rear main. he said mine might be anarobic sealant used at the factory, and it could be leaking/being slung out.
