Apparently this is a common problem. My '09 crew cab is stuck in 4th gear. It's been at the dealer for over 2 weeks now. They've tried everything. I think they're about ready to give me a new transmission.

This is the first I've heard of it on two Dodge boards.
By the way I didn't mention that it's an automatic.
they all are , lol at two weeks to diagnose a transmission problem. It should've already been replaced and this is the first time i've heard of a transmission problem with these trucks
Don't know who told you it was a common problem but on several boards, this is the first posting of such an issue.
I agree, can't be such a common problem if nobody has heard of it before. I also agree, if they had no idea what was wrong after a couple days, I'd be pushing for a new tranny.
this is an proven trans in these trucks...you do have the 5 speed auto correct? Also there is no manual available for the 1500. If the person that told you this is a common problem in one working on your truck go get it and take it somewhere else....should be a no brainer, warranty is it not, the way it get diagnosed electronically should take all of no time. My thoughts are I am hearing and seeing people not being able to get stuff fixed under warranty...I think it's a parts shortage. Not necessarily the trans but for sure other parts. As soon the plants closed tons of parts places out of business, they were barely hanging on, I think Chrysler probably spent millions while they were down picking up their machinery at shops that closed and moving them to new suppliers. JMHO
The initial part they ordered was on back order for 100 trucks. Now I'm told that the "module" should be on today's UPS truck. Hopefully this part will fix it.
