Default Did I get ripped off on my warranty?

Hi all, I have read alot of usefull information on this forum and now have my own question. I have an '09 ram 1500 sport slt, purchased at the end of August this year. I purchased extended warranty of 7 year or 115,000km variety. Well I paid $2990 plus tax for that, so my question is did I get ripped off or does this seem fair for warranty in Canada. Appreciate all input because I have 60 days to cancel. Lifetime warranty is not available in Canada unfortunately or I would have picked that up.

If the warranty gives you peace of mind, then you and only you can determine if you were ripped off. At near $3k I would expect to get A LOT of peace of mind.

Personally, I'd take the $3k and put it in the stock market.

Having said that - did you finance the $3k for the warranty. If so, then yes - you WAY over paid. But that's just my opinion....

did you get ripped off?? That is up to you to answer. If you feel the warranty is worth it, then no. If you are questioning it, then I think you know your answer...

I bought an extended warranty for a brand new Super Charged Yamaha Waverunner that I bought it August. Extends me for 4 years past the first year.. was worth it to me because I want to drop it off at the dealer and let them worry about it......I did not care what the warranty cost me (even thought I beat him on the price! LOL)

The same may apply for your truck.... My time is more valuable sometimes than to be working on something I am not trained to work on....

yes I did finance it on the old credit card
It does give me some peace of mind except I am conflicted by how much I had to pay for it. Just want to get the feel on the forums if the price seems right in canada for what I got kind of thing. Thanks for the input so far!

I got the lifetime maxcare (bumper to bumper) with a $100 deductible for $2k and change last December. I know some people got an even better deal than me. Seeing as how the Canadian dollar is about on par with the US dollar, I would expect you should get more for your money. Like the others said though, its worth what you are willing to pay for piece of mind.

We were never given that option.

Dealer cost is around $1500 for a Maxcare Lifetime $100 deductible in the U.S.

It's my opinion that $100 - $500 above cost is a fair markup.

I always make part of the deal $100 over cost for an extended warranty.

Do the conversion to Canadian funds and see where it comes out.

Dealers should profit but they don't need to retire after one sale.

They offered me the best extended warranty Chrysler offered. It covered everything right down to the smallest component over 5000 listed. They wanted $2880.00. You have to be careful some dealers offer extended warranties that aren't backed by the manufacter. The dealership gets most of the money collected from these warranties and there is a lot of small print that in the end the warranty doesn't cover alot. Don't ask me how I know! I do know that if it is a Chrysler warranty they send you alot of information on the warranty and a card to carry in your wallet that has the type of warranty you have and numbers to call if you break down because all of their extended warranties will tow to the nearest dealer. I plan on purchasing one before my 3/36 expires.

i think $3000 is alot for a 7yr/70,000 or 115,000km warranty.i paid 1600 for the lifetime warranty.since you have 60 days i would call other dealers to see if you can get a better deal on the warranty and do a search online for chrysler extended warranties to see if you can get a better deal.dealers are free to set there own price for the extended warranties
