No water in the oil, no oil in the rad, no water coming out of your exhaust, no hot temps....what's wrong with this picture, lol? One word..."stealership". They can't make enough $$$$ selling vehicles so they make it from Chry the only way they know how...stealing at it's best. I doubt very seriuosly that it's a blown head gasket.

Well I pick it up yesterday. While they called it a "Blown" head gasket. It appears to me to be a "defective" head gasket. They told me that once they pulled it appart the gasket around the #7 cylinder was either defective, torn, or creased when installed at the plant. They said it had most likely been leaking very small amounts of fluid for some time and finally got to a point were it leaked enough to actually cause a mis fire. They did change the plugs on cylinder #7 and oil change to boot. It is running fine now. Thanks for all the input, and I will be keeping an eye on what you all recommended

Yeah... I had thought about too. Something rotten in Denmark besides the cheese. A blown head gasket will have either oil in the water or water in the oil or sometimes even both.

Last time I saw a teardown after a P0307 code it was a cracked head right along the edge of the #7 exhaust valve seat. It had been setting a #7 misfire code intermittently about every 2~3 weeks for the previous 12 months. Owner had wasted a lot of money chasing ghosts. Finally did what he should have done first, run a compression check which conclusively indicated a teardown was in order. This was on a 318 with 85k on the clock (and suspected flood damage).

Since this was the first case I've ever heard about a bad head gasket on a 5.7, I asked my Dodge tech who gave me a look of misbelief. He said the only time they've seen a bad head gasket...one time, by the way...it was on a Durango that had been driven with no coolant (traffic accident).
