2011 Laramie Center Console Swap to 40/20/40
Ok guys, I need some help.
The wife and I were planning on having having one more kid (total 3). So we went ahead and bought our 2011 Mega Cab Laramie with the center console so we could have heated & cooled seats. The 40/20/40 didn't offer heated and cooled; just the heated seats.
Just found out that we are expecting twins...
So, can the center console be swapped to the center seat/armrest AND still be able to have the cooled seats? Is there some motors/ducts under the console that can't be used with the center seat/armrest.

haha...I did forget to say congrats!
As far as I know the cooling is done via the A/C system. The older cooled seats I believe were just a fan at the bottom moving air. But in these ones I do believe it is connected to the A/C system via a damper then a fan on each seat to move that conditioned air. My guess is they do run these vents under the console, because I cant see anything under the seats. So in that case it would be pretty hard. I have never really thought about it, because my shift lever is also in the console so its near impossible to swap it out for me.
As far as getting heated tho I believe that is very much possible.

The only way to know is to yank the center console to check out the plumbing for ac. as far as shifter etc it all can be moved to stock loaction, of course at a price, all manf build there vehicles for there max profit, in other words there is now way your truck is so soley different from a 40 20 40 that it couldnt be done, the only icker is cooled seats, but I have a feeling it has nothing to do with the center console, my truck has vents on floor under the seats for passengers and if I was guessing it is sharing the plumbing some way there....Have you dove under your seats and looked??

Looking at at a 1500 service manual there is no connection between the AC and the ventilated seats, each seat has two small fans. The ductwork from the heater box to the rear outlets are different, but I assume thats because the vents on the '20' seat is different.
I have no idea why dont have the ventilated seats on the 40/20/40 setup. I dont have a parts book but its possible the seat cushions may be different since the buckets with the console would be flat across with the middle seat. That being the case they wouild have to make the perforated leather for the vented seats for another style seat.
I know its available but honestly I have never see a Laramie with the 40/20/40, if I did I would have bought it.
