What in the world are you planning on pulling with it that only weighs 3-4K? Normally a winch is for recovering the vehicle and you wouldn't put anything less than a 10-12K winch on the front of a 1 ton.
Assuming you are talking about this:
Then you need to make sure you buy a front mount winch (generally 10-20K)
For winches I would be looking at Warn and maybe Ramsey

Then you should be able to get by with a 10K winch. Just remember that 3-4K stuck is not going to move with a 3-4K winch, the rating is for a rolling load - basically on flat ground.
