Confused about transfer case. The plate on the transfer states NP246D but the owners manual says NVG246. Are these the same cases? I'm trying to find the proper fluid to use. Anyone else have this issue?

Welcome to DF Hank. Please add some info about what vehicle you are referring to so we can better assist.

2010 Laramie. Does that transfer use the special fluid instead of the regular ATF 4 transmission fluid. I have 50,000 on the truck, should I even worry about changing it now?

Good morning j keaton, you moved my post to another section and I can't find it. Was it non-tech, general discussion, etc.

Thanks Hank

There is a book in the glove compartment that will tell you what sort of fluid your transfercase needs. If it is missing then you can download one from the RAM site:
