Exclamation Wth!!!!!!!!!

Good afternoon all,

While I was leaving my drive way this afternoon, my truck went crazy. My headlights started to flash, my radio turned off, a bunch of dash lights came on.

I pulled the following codes

P0706-Transmition range sensor
C2101-Battery high voltage
C2204- Dynamics sensor
B2215-FCM

One of my buddies who is a mechanic said that its more then likely the alternator making the computer go crazy by over charging.

I ckecked my voltage gauge and It went straight to the "H"?

Do yall think the alternator would cause all that to happen?

I'd stick a voltmeter on the battery both while running and not. That will tell you what's up.

Voltage gauge is a glorified idiot light. You need to actually measurte the voltage wirth a meter to see whats up.

If this is a dumb question I apologize in advance. How may Volts should be going to the battery from the alternator, since according to my truck its over charging?

I let my truck sit over night and now it stated up just fine. I turned my a/c blower motor on and the truck turned off. I was going to take the tuck to get the alternator but I cant move it.

With the truck off the battery should safely read between 11.6V-12.8Volts
With Truck running voltage should be in the neighbourhood of between 13.6V-14.9V anything over 15.2V is signs of voltage regulator going south. Im not sure if the regulator in these trucks is in the alternator or PCM.
Also check your battery for swelling, if its swelling don't drive the truck till you find out whats wrong..

Also check your grounds...

I looked around the internet and cant find where the regulator is located. Im hoping its in the alternator. Im about to replace the alternator. My gf now says the the batter light came on while she was driving it before all this happened. The battery is brand new

Before you get a new alternator, call around and see if there's a parts store that does free alternator testing. Then, pull your alternator and bring it in. They'll put it on a stand, spin it up, and check it's output. Takes 5 minutes. The Advance Auto Parts store near me checks them.

Well my alternator was bad. The shop said that the alternator was over charging and it pretty much fried my ecu. Im hoping my extended warranty will cover the cost. That sounds expensive.

Iv never heard of the ecu being fried by the alternator?
