I think I did my homework and finally decided the the recall kit from MoPar was a joke and decided to remove my TiPM circuit board. I tested it first and no power was coming across the fuel pump relay fuse. I also used a jumper wire between the rear cigarette lighter and the relay fuse for a few days. The removal is a pain, but can be done by anyone. Take pictures of the location of the fuses and relays before removing them all. I removed the board but BEWARE the rear left corner might be sealed with silicone and it will stick the board even though you have released the clips. This is the area around the pin connectors. Be gentle and reach in and cut the silicone so you can get the board lose. So I bought the relay for $5 and took the board to an electronics repair shop and they replaced the relay for $20. I put it all back together and it works great. I spent $25 instead of $1500 to have the dealer do it or $600 bucks to get a used TIPM. You can do this!

 

You have a TIPM on a 99 truck? That's weird.

If you can get the good weather pack sealed relay and socket, the external is the way to go.


The PT Cruisers from like 2003,4 and 5 had NICE fat seals on their cooling fan relays and the sockets were sealed units as well. I bypassed a condenser fan on a 2007 RAM a couple weeks ago. The PT fan motors were junk, but I always cut the relays and wiring from them. Free parts vs $800 TIPM.
