Default Fuel Saver Light

Hey guys,

Just a question about the fuel saver light.

Mine usually turns on when I hit 55-60 mph or when I start breaking around 30 mph to stop. When the light turns on at 55 mph cruising on the highway I put the cruse control on and it turns off. How do I get it to stay on? Im traveling at the same speed, am I still saving gas? I see my MPG going up when I travel a bit faster like 65-70mph. Is that considered a Fuel Saver?

Another question is do the new dodges run on 4 cylinders with the fuel light comes on?

Thanks!
Brian

I would like to know the same thing. I don't have the fuel saver light on mine, so I would like to know exactly where I need to be for the MDS to be operating.

rhulm,

Go to the system setup and select the fuel saver icon. Yours might be turned off.

I don't have the light...probably a good thing, as I would always be trying to get it to come on. !!

Yup... a lot of us that already have trucks and didn't order them, but picked them off a lot, don't have the light.

I know that when I drove my Corvette on long distances I got better gas mileage without the cruise control. It was about 3 - 4 mpg better if I controlled the gas instead of the cruise. It was a significant difference so I rarely used the cruise.

So nobody answered my question. I am not questioning the fuel saver light and where its located but its function. It turns off when cruising and does the truck run on 4 cylinders when the light is on?

The fuel saver light comes on when you are running in 4 cylinder mode.

I am fairly certain that turning on your cruise control has no bearing on whether or not MDS can kick in.

Correct. While cruise has no direct bearing on that, from experience in my vette and my last ram, on long trips I would get worse mileage with the cruise on the majority of the way then if I regulated gas flow by not having cruise on.
