Grinding noise when tires spin?

Eveytime my rear tires spin I get this grinding noise coming from somewhere in the drivetrain. It sounds like its towards the front near the transfer case. I'n not trying to do burnouts or anything. My tires have spun on snow, ice, uneven ground, mud, etc. I thought it was maybe the esp but I turned it off and it still did it.
I assume this is normal and it has something to do with the anti spin differential, I hope.

Grinding noise is not good. Take it to the dealer & check the rear diff fluid. Anti-spin diff needs special fluid, it may be low or they may have put the wrong fluid in.

Went out and spun my tires for you - no weird grinding noise. Might want to get it checked.

I'm taking to the dealer asap. It did it today while just driving down the road so something must be wrong. Hopefully I haven't damaged it too much. I noticed it right after I bought it driving in snow and now it has 8400 miles.

Dealer checked everything out and it was fine. They said that the noise is the esp and the anti spin differential kicking in and that its completely normal.
So you all don't hear a noise at all when your tires spin, other than the tires spinning of course.

What did you find out with this issue. I have heard that same thing from my truck when trying to back up the driveway on snow. It went away when I snapped it into 4 x 4 mode.

It does it in mine in 2wd and 4wd, just whenever the tires spin. I assume yours quit in 4wd because the tires quit spinning in 4wd. Anyway, it must be the antispin differential doing its thing, thats what the dealer said. I'm glad to hear that someone else can hear

I spun my tires on a wet road and on dry with the esp light flashing show it was on and no grinding noise.

I have noticed this same grinding noise when a tire spins on snow or ice.

I have a 2009 4x4 laramie w/ the 3.55 rear axle (no anti-spin differential).

I was debating on asking the dealership about this as well.

So it must be the esp making the noise since you don't have limited slip. I spun the tires with the esp off but I just read the manual over and found out that there's a esp "partial off." That must've been why it still made the noise. Next time I'm on ice I'll turn the esp to the "full off" mode and see what happens.

I'm going to figure out this noise one way or the other
