Actually it seems to be an easy fix to me. Take off all the trim pieces, weld plates to fill the holes, grind down your welds, and then take it in to get sprayed.. They will do the rest of the sanding.

The rail trim just snaps in place. Use a fiber stick to pry it off. Post some picks when ya weld up the holes!

the tailgate trim just pops off. on mine.

I hear that they made some changes with a recall, you might want to take that back panel off of your truck tailgate to see if they put screws in there from the bottom that you can't see.

i just had mine replaced. the dealer had the bed sprayed before i bought it and the place they had it done at didnt put one of the clips back on and it kept popping up on one side so they replaced the whole thing.

i agree that you should weld the holes up. if you saw the pics of the tailgate then you saw how big the holes are. i dont know if the lining wouldnt cave in on the holes without welding them up first.

There are now screws holding the trim on. Later built trucks will have better retention though because they increased the size of the tabs for engagement when snapping it in. Early trucks it sometimes fell off on its own just with the wind. Later trucks you will need a fiber stick and a can of spinach...
