I think the key word with painting the driveshaft is "Could" It could throw off the balance. You may be fine with a light coat and then sand it even to ensure there are no runs. I think the runs could weigh more and throw off the balance.

I decided to have the Line-X dealer do the rust proofing/undercoating. He's doing the truck first thing this morning and said it has to dry for a few hours so I will pick it up after work.

$400 for the ValuGard product which is endorsed by Dodge and many others. It's supposed to be the only rust proofing or undercoating product endorsed by the OEM's

I look for some replacement tires and call it good for awhile!

Is the rust proofing and undercoating a line-x type of spray on?

It's a Black undercoating on the bottom of the truck and they "fog" the dors and tailgate and inside the frame rails. They do not drill holes, they use existing holes.

The product they use is from www.autoint.com

I feel good thats it's done and looks real good under the truck.

I owe the forum some pics of the truck. I have not posted any since I picked it up. I will take a few shots of everything I have done to it this weekend.

That's odd, the rental place must have taken really bad care of it because there are very little rust issues here. The salt content in the air is not any higher than the central US and there is hardly any humidity...all vehicles sold out here come with a rust prevention box which plugs into your battery and charges your frame so that rust doesnt stick... I have no rust under my truck and it's been on island for probably 6 months... I drive it through the sand and ocean as well. I always rinse after use though
