weiht wise i have a 2008 ram qc weigh it all the time taking scrap back and with me in it it weighs 5,578 pounds and i weigh 180 pounds.now that is a 4x4 hemi.So that is about 5400 with about a 1/4 tank of gas.

Hemi_Rom i got my taildragger endorsement in a pa-12 and it was the most fun i have ever had flying a plane. Your gona love your J-3, If i didnt have a wife and kids to cart arround i think i would probably trade the dakota for a tandem seat piper taildragger. Do you solo yours from the front or rear seat? I cant fly from the rear seat, when you turn final the runway disappears and i cant land without a clear view of the runway im a big chicken. Yea i know slip it in, but i get too scared. I do fine from the front seat though.

Excuse my late reply, I have been camping for the last 10 days. My J3 clone only has one seat so that issue is resolved for me . Yes, there is a lot of snaking going on when taxing a J3 as well as the final issue you have mentioned. CAVU.

............Anyone who doesn't think their hemi is making rated power can try a 5.4 ford for fun. That'll bring a screaming halt to that noise with a quickness.
how true.. I owned three with the 5.4 and 3.73 LS rear ( best powertrain setup you can get from Ford F150 on a 4x4 ). And even for the 09 with the new 6 speed, absolutely no midrange pull, lots of noise at 4k but no seats of the pants pull.
