Default ABS and ESP Weirdness

Got done with work today and started backing out - kept hearing a ding ding but didn't pay any attention until I got backed up.

ABS light flashing on and off with the ESP BAS light and the traction control indicator. Start driving forward and the traction control kept kicking in trying to stop the truck.

Shut it off and restarted - same thing. Turned off the traction control which let me drive, but the abs light was still coming on and off. Go about 4 miles and stop to fill up with gas.

Restart and this time the abs light is on solid - and the Traction control disabled itself.

5 miles down the road, all the lights shut off and it's fine for the next 40 miles home.

Weird.

I had this same thing happening with service 4wd light coming on as well. My problem was a bad rear wheel speed sensor, swapped it and no problems since.

Default lights

I had the same thing almost. All the brake, ESP, and BAS lights came on, took it to the dealer, found out my brake module failed, and had to replace it. The only problem; dealer said Dodge didn't want the truck release untill fix, due to the brake system failure. They were worried that the brakes might fail to ingauge properly.

Doing it again today. Guess I'll have to take it into the dealer Monday. I think I'll pull the ABS fuse - assuming there is one.

Default ABS light

This is what my dealer did when all my ABS, BAS, EPS warning lights came on. "DTC C2200 is active in ABS module performed diagnostic for DTC C2200, and after testing found ABS module to have internal error, ABS module will need replacement." The two parts that they ordered was 08191002 & 68048344AF. Took 2 weeks to get it fix as they had a problem getting one of the parts.

Just got the truck back, it was a damaged wire leading to the right rear ABS sensor.

One more thought on this. When I was under the truck yesterday running the tailgate wires, I took a look at the ABS sensor wiring.

That is a really fragile looking setup. There is nothing protecting the wires at all, they just hang there.

In my case, I'm pretty sure that the clay mud that has been covering my street was the culprit. Big chunks everywhere and it seems like it would have been very easy for some of it to damage the wire.

While it won't be normal for me to be spinning around in the clay, it might be a good idea to figure out how to better protect those wires.

I just went to the dealer today because I needed a new weather seal for a window. Kept getting stuck while I rolled down my window.

Anyways, while I was there they said they had a "recall" to flash/update the ABS. Took about a 45 minutes.

Don't know if this helps you or not with your ABS problem.

Checkout post 7 - it was a broken wire.
