Default My a/c stinks

I bought my 2009 RAM 1500 on 5/11/09.
Recently when I first turn on the a/c it smells musty, like mildew.

No matter if I turn the a/c off or leave it on when I turn the vehicle off, it stinks the next morning.

Any ideas or suggestion to remedy would be appreciated.

Scott K.

Anti-fungal spray on the evaporator will work...also check that it's draining properly because it's too new to have mold without a reason.

Its a new truck. Take it to the dealer and let them take care of it.

You should try to take it off recirculate air a few mins before parking it that should do it , keeping it on recirculate mode tends to let fungi grow in the damp case or better yet turn the comp off and let the air dry it for a few mins before turnning the truck off.

Thumbs down Stinks!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad Im not the only one having this problem! Mine smells so bad when you first turn on the air that it will gag you. Not the New Truck Smell I was looking for. I am taking it in to get checked out this week.

I have never had any problem out of any vehicle Ive had in the past.

I have had this problem with every vehicle I have air in except this one because my wife drives it and she doe not put in on recirc just for that reason. I use to because I wanted it cold . There are products for this at you local car parts shop, so it's not a ram isssue, it's an a/c issue and us dummies not reading the manual again.

Heres the tech info on why its stinks on a/c units

Some vehicle operators may experience a musty odor from the A/C system, primarily at
start up in hot and humid climates. This odor may be the result of microbial growth on the
cooling coil. During normal A/C system operation, condensation forms in and around the
A/C cooling coil. When airborne pollutants mix with this condensation, bacteria and fungi
growth begins and odor results.
