Default Electric Brake Controller

I need to get an electric brake controller installed in my Ram and would like to do it myself. I "stole"the controller out of my old Avalanche but had this installed for me and would appreciate any advise/instructions from anybody here who installed one in their Ram.

Thanks in advance!

If you can, buy a cable that is made for your brake controller and is made with the Dodge plug on the other end. You wil plug the cable in the brake controller and then plug the other end into the female plug that is under the dash behind the parking brake pedal. Just under the dash near the parking brake release lever is a screw. All I did was take the screw out and use it to mount the mounting bracket for the controller without drilling any holes in the dash. It was simple and it looks clean and I don't even come close to hitting when I get in and out. One of the nice things about these trucks is it is very clean up under the dash. My Ford 3/4 ton was a wiring nightmare under the dash and was very cluttered.

Tekonsha makes a harness that just plugs in to the truck and their better controllers.

As for the mounting, this is how I did mine. There's another thread somewhere with some other options.

Thanks for your help! Sounds a lot easier than the mess I looked at in the Avalanche when disconnecting the controller.

The female connection being the blue one in this pic?

There's a picture of the plug here: It's the blue socket with the white plug in it.

Never met a factory controller I liked - and if you tow electric over hydraulic, the factory controllers don't work with that type of setup.

Most of the folks I know who have bought trucks (Ford/Chev) with the integrated controllers have soon put in a Prodigy or P3.
