ONLY USE 5W-20 in the Hemi. There is nothing better and no debate to this.

I agree with you 100% 94rt10ohio. I was alittle worried about useing 5W-20 here in southwest Oklahoma mainly due to the wonderful summer heat.

Mine came on at 2700, right in the middle of a long road trip. Had 1000 mixed miles before the trip started and much of the next 1700 was almost all highway (about 70 mph the whole time). I was a bit surpised with all the highway miles that it came up so early.

I let the dealer do the first oil change just incase the oil filter was jammed on or something, didn't want to get into that mess. I plan on using bulk 5W 24 or 5W20 whatever the book says because of the MDS. Anyway I asked and most Chrysler cars are using the lighter oil...don't ask me why. I did the first oil change at 2000 km just because I felt like it, been 3 months, I disagree with the 6 month or 10000KM's ludicris is what that is. I don't care about that light, my sons Avenger went for first oil change around 3500KM,s....light came on on the way home from the dealer. I have no confidence in the system. I will just do like before 5000KM's or 2 to 3 months depending on usage, using the oil recommended. I don't see any use for synthetic at that rate. Also I am just going to one of the more recommended quick lube places, the ones that have all the equipment to do diffs and trans, a trans cases..they have the suction hoses. Not only that 49.99at the dealer just because its couple litres more oil, and extra 15 bucks, for and oil change and filter I don't believe there are any lube points are there?

Keep your receipts and mark the mileage on the receipt. If you buy bulk oil be sure to maybe write the mileages you use that oil. Man with the HEMI you will have to buy some real bulk oil on sale.

warhorse. i use mobil 1 full syn. with the mobil 1 filters. my buddy runs a couple oil change places. he says without a doubt the mobil/ royal purple filters are the "best". just the diffence in weight of the filter alludes to that statement. its quite a bit heavier(more filter media ect.)

not trying to start a debate, just giving my .02 c.

also im at 1100 miles or so. im planning on changing it soon. i know motors arent full of crap like they used to be because of better maching ect. but i still like to change it early for the first time. after that, prob. 4k -5k miles. i dont tow, and i live in michigan..
