Have you guys looked at the engine hours Vs. the milage? My oil change message came on at 2500 miles or so. I looked at the engine hours and they are about 100. I'm guessing that the light comes on from the hours and not the miles. Or a combo of the two.

Mine came on about 2500. Did this change. Like most around here. I'm at about 4200 miles and just did a long trip form SO CAL to Yosemite, pulling 5000lb camper and stuff! Oil looks pretty good.

Yep, mine came on at 2,500 too. Also, does anyone know what kind of oil the dodge dealers use? I know it's mopar, but I don't know if it's regular, or synthetic blend, or full synthetic. I wouldn't really put it past them to use the cheapest stuff they could get away with, but I don't really know for sure. I've been reading a lot about the different oils, and it sounds like a good synthetic blend is the best for suspending and retaining sludge and buildup within the oil instead of letting it deposit.

I would like to know this too. I guess I will change my oil in Spring and Fall like I always have with all my cars/trucks. I only put between 3500 to 4000kms per year(no, thats not a typo) on my autos so I guess that will be ok.
I only have 850 miles on mine but am getting ready to tow a 2500 lb camper. Some friends say I should change it before I go but book says to wait. I talked to service advisor at the dealership and he said all hemi come factory with synthetic. Anyone know if this is true?

Thats what I thought I tried finding info in my manual but couldn't locate it. Service advisor said they all come with it and the complimentary 1st chage will be with synthetic also. Thought it may have sounded too good to be true.
As far as I've been told, by the Service Manager at my local dealer is that the recommended (also used by Dodge) Oil is NOT full synthetic but a blend. They state that the Oil weight should be 5W/20 ONLY!
The MANUAL states...
"The engine oil installed in the engine at the factory is a high-quality energy conserving type lubricant. Oil changes should be consistent with anticipated climate conditions under which vehicle operations will occur. The recommended viscosity and quality grades are shown in Section 7 of this manual. NON-DETERGENT OR STRAIGHT MINERAL OILS MUST NEVER BE
USED."
