Question Magnaflow/Mufflex

With the Mufflex/Magnaflow kit has anyone else noticed their exhaust tips turning gold? I have a Magnaflow catback on my Wrangler and the chrome exhaust tip did the same thing, turned gold after about 2 months.

I'm considering buying the mufflex setup, but have been torn between the 14 and 18. I've noticed that Magnaflow is generally calmer or cleaner sounding then the Flowmasters I've used in the past on my Jeep. I'm not going for obnoxious but I want to know the engine is running and hear it when I step on the gas. Haven't decided if I'm keeping the resonators or not, I really like the stock exhaust tips.

Hi All:
I had my Mufflex on for three days and noticed the tailpipe could be moved. So we put it up on the lift to tighten the muffler clamp and noticed the whole exhaust system, back to the "cats" and up to the inlet of the new muffler was discolored and my first thought was back pressure.

The only discororation to the oringinal system was at the back, outlet, of the muffler. I checked with the local muffler shop and they said it was ok as it was caused by the flow of the new muffler bieng straight thru and letting cold air get further into the system.

Had it on for a few months and no problems, 16 MPG city-21.6MPG Hiway, so they must be right.

I just had a magnaflow system put on mine yesterday SI/DO with 4" Stainless tips and the muffler shop told me that it was possible that the tips would turn gold due to tarnishing from the heat, he said the only thing you can do to keep it from happening is to put chrome on it but then you have the problem with it possibly chipping.

with mufflex your stock tips are the same. It is not a full cat back, just a muffler swap. Yellowing tip is a property of the tip, not the muffler.

Yellowing stainless is due to heat. If the tips are double walled, they won't yellow. Do not know if the factory tips are double walled or not. My thoughts would be that they are.

Just installed my DOD14M this morning. Did it in the driveway in under 40 minutes. The thing sounds awesome!
