Default Messy oil change by dealer

Had the 6000 mile oil change done by my dealer. On the way home there was a terrible burnt oil smell. Pulled into my garage and looked under the hood. It was obvious that they made a mess when adding new oil. They wiped up some or most, but I could see oil smudges on the fan housing and some oil on the engine. After about 10 minutes, I looked under the engine and noticed several small puddles on the garage floor. Truck smells like burnt oil now. I usually change my own oil and have never come close to making this much of a mess. This did not happen at the 3000 mile change. My question to you all is, what would you do? I am thinking that the dealer owes me an engine compartment detailing. The service manager I have dealt with has been more than pleasant and I have only good things to say about him- it's the guy in back who messed up. I want to call the service manager and politely complain.

The smell will probably go away shortly but all that oil will attract alot of dust and other crap. You should address it to them, tell them to focus on lubricating the engine on the inside rather than the outside. There aren't as many moving parts there

I had a similar problem as well. except they got the oil all over the truck. I had oil on my center console my front quarter panel and driver's side door. I plan on saying somthing to them on the next visit. If I wanted oil everywhere I would change the oil myself.

Wow...on your next visit? I had this happen with my old '06 Mazda 3S GT and I noticed on the drive home that the car sounded throatier than normal and when I got out of the car in my garage, I could smell the oil. I looked under and the whole way home, I had been leaking oil. They didn't put the damn pan back on. I was pissed! It stained my garage. This wasn't the dealer, it was NTB (National Tire and Battery). Anyway, I called right away and went back, they fixed the oil change, detailed my engine and paid to have the oil stain removed from my garage floor of my new house. If they screw up, let them know immediately and make them fix that. That's just poor customer service and lack of attention to detail.

My mom had a subaru outback that she took through a quick lube place. They drained all the oil from the tran and added oil to the engine thinking they drained the oil from the engine. She drove for several days until finding out there was a serious problem.
My dad had his tires rotated las month and he drove off the lot with the wheels rattling, they barely screwed the lugs on with their fingers!
I guess these are rare but I always change my own oil. Businesses make more money the faster they do things so things like this happen.

They took your oil pan off to change the oil? Or do you not know what your talking about?

Serves you guys right for not doing the work yourself, you should know when you take it somewhere to get it done including the dealer that your going to get some dumbass that probably doesnt even have a GED doing the work.

Glad your capable to do your own work. Not everyone physical can or has the desire to. I know many mechanics that went to trade school or college and are not "dumbass". You loose credibility when you make statements like that.

If you are paying a supposedly accredited dealers for oil changes and you get a mess like that I would surely just go right back, find my salesman and ask him if he would like me to ever buy a car from him again.....works well. Problem usually gets taken care of right away if service gives you trouble.

Go see the salesman ? He has nothing to do with service. go back and see the service writer or service mananger they will have it taken care of. If you go in with a smart ass remark and pissy tone they will still fix it but may not help further. acting like a ass is not the way to start. Everyone makes mistakes even you. Go back now dont wait
