Default should i load the rer 2.042 update

I have downloaded the update and burned it to a cd but havent decided if im going to use it yet. Afterdoing some research on mfov.com and the
unofficial mygig site some people have had no problems with it and some
have. I also saw somewhere where a version 2.043 will be comming out
as the official update but no idea as to when. I currently have version
1.220 so is the update that different? I also have the new gracenotes
update 1287 as mine had the 881 version on it. I havent even had the
truck a week so im still not real familiar with the rer system so what this
update changes is still fuuzy to me. What do you think

I've been running 2.042 for well over a month now. It actually fix many of my issues (missing caller ID, Bluetooth not connecting). Overall I like the features it adds like the Bluetooth icon on the main radio screen and the ability to hide most of the on-screen buttons for Nav.

Brummo: Gracenotes are for tagging songs with the correct artist, title, album, and misc stuff.

I've been looking to update mine, but as of yet haven't figured out where to start or how.

I should see what version I have, I haven't had issues with the radio at all and/or tagging songs with the correct artist etc...I don't think..

If you look on the left sidebar of the Unofficial MyGIG Information Site you'll see a link that says "Gracenote Installation DB Walkthrough". It gives good step-by-step instructions on installing the update, complete with photos. You'll have to download and burn a copy of the database to CD first but there's another link on the same sidebar that tells exactly how to do that.

the gracenote only works if you pull songs straight from a music cd to the harddrive...If you are simply moving mp3 files from your computer to the mygig then the songs are already tagged from when you copied them to your computer. So lets say you go into a bestbuy and buy a new cd and copy it to your harddrive, then the gracenote program will tag the songs with the correct name for you. otherwise you do not need the gracenote software...plus i have several new cds that are not on the most updated gracenote download so I will just be putting them on my computer first to get the song names and then moving them to my mygig.

I updated both the RER and the Gracenotes on mine about 2 months ago and have had zero problems with either. Overall the RER is more useful and has a cleaner appearance.

Man I wish the REN Non -Nav could get some love, without lockpick and allgig, all the web sites including the hackers, saying you cant just software a REN non nav my-gig to do video in motion, I am wondering if the guy selling the software to do it is legit, his site says they are out all the time...http://mygig.110mb.com/ 34.99 would be a BARGAIN
