Very true, unless someone comes up with a hack, or we get a programmer ,it will stay stock, or disconnect the sensors, then have a scan tool to erase the codes, at least 4WD's can turn yours off more than us 2WD, I guess we NEVER need more wheel speed in the mud or at a light, YEA .......RIGHT.....

My head was hurting yesterday from all of the searching I did. I even joined two charger forums to ask questions!

It does look like ESP will be mandated one day, but as for right now, it is not.

I think I read on one of the numerous sites I went to that manufacturers have until 2012 to get the system in place. I guess some are just trying to get ahead of the mandate.

So, it is raining again today. I hit the gas on the same hill, nobody else was near the hill. I got the truck slightly sideways again, this time, I kept it floored. It went through second gear, spinning, to around 70 mph. The traction control did something since I did not counter steer and the truck straightened out. I started to go sideways and then right back to going straight. The light did not flash.

I think I'll give it a try. I reallize it's a Jeep, but it's the same manufacturer....
@mopowar; @sarguy01...
In the Jeep article, it says that the "Hokey-Pokey ESP Permanently Off" is not available when shipped from the factory but only after a TSB for the Jeep 07-08's. Have you tried to chase info about any equivalent TSB for the RAMs ?? The article says it's an "afterthought" from Chrysler to accommodate "severely modded vehicles" - perhaps you need to work with a knowledgable Service Tech to search from this angle...

I was hoping a Dodge tech would chime in. I know of one from when I was on the second gen forums, but I can't remember his handle. I will try to hunt for it and send him a pm.

so heres what ive noticed with my ESP:
ON: works good, minimal tire spin. easier to spin punching it around a corner (obviously). can break loose & get a little sideways on damp road. with a wet road, itll get loose real quick at full throttle. in snow, it works awesome with stock goodyear 20s.
"OFF": so-so. gives a little more freedom. wet road, itll get a lot more sideways before kicking in. in snow, its kinda hard gettin traction from a stop, but you can slide the truck all you want, and ESP wont really be able to correct it. i did notice sliding around a soft corner that when the truck got a little too far out, i counter steered a lot to correct, and ESP kicked in VERY HARD, more than before i counter steered. leads me to believe that there might be yaw control also. most likely SAS has something to do with this.
FULL OFF: havent played with it yet. figured id get a feel for the truck before getting brave.

the owners manual says ON is on, OFF is partially off, FULL OFF available in 4hi only. full off is full off up to 40 mph, then goes to partial & back to full off once speed drops below 35. 4lo is FULL OFF only. for full off in 2wd, im guessing the only options are pull front drievshaft and put t-case in 4hi, disconnect speed sensor, or wire in a switch for speed sensor or other part of ESP system.

sport CC, 5.7, 3.55 open, stock 20s & tires
