oil pan removal
I'm needing to replace the oil pan gasket and in Haynes it says the motor mount needs to be removed. However,it says in another chapter that you need to support the motor with a block of wood under the oil pan. How do you guys take off the oil pan? Is there a way to get it off without removing motor mounts?

front motor mount bracket does need to be removed.....if your careful and your other mounts are good, then you dont have to support the engine....but the motor will swing back a little when you take off the mount....or support it under the trans

Just support it with a jackstand or another jack.

Sorry, it's a 95 SOHC. So there's another spot on the engine that I can support it from other than the oil pan?

use the E brake or block the wheels to hold it still, take off the front mount and all the pan bolts, you dont have to support it with anything, the 2 side mounts hold it up just fine, they hold it in the car now, all the front one does is keep it from flipping over when you accelerate,
