My friend had an 87 Camaro and the engine blew so he asked if I would take it for $100. I have alot of chevy friends so I said sure just to experiment and see how fast I could go on a budget and show that a Mopar mechanic could beat them at there own game.
I built a mild 350 with 993 heads, 9.7:1 compression, headers and left everything else stock.
After a week the 700r4 lost 1st, 3rd, and 4th.
I installed a turbo350 and then it broke the rear end 3 times. The engine was only making about 360 hp and maybe 400ft/lbs of torque.
I sure had fun beating up on those LS1 Camaro SS's though. I sold the car soon after I built it since it wasn't as fast as the Roadrunner with the 383 in it, and the Roadrunner was getting pissed having to share space with a mid 80's Crapmaro.
