RE: Replace PCM
I have it in the garage now. It is the same year, the same motor size, and from a D that had ABS and the security system. I understand they all have to match to be "compatible". The plan is to send this one off to B&G for the flash and save the stocker for an if-needed basis or a resale of the D (gasp! never!!) later.
I could temp around on the spare and send in the stocker since it has the miles and vin on it already, but I'd rather safeguard it since I know it works.
Anyone?
TIA,
IndyDurango

I hope this can help anyone who pulls this thread up as I did and hoped there was an answer........I have bad news.
Once a pcm for this vehicle has had a vin associated with it, it can not be reflashed. I am not sure how the guys selling the remans on ebay are doing it but I know the three dodge dealers around me, and the junk yard I got it from warned it probably wouldn't work. I really wanted to keep the durango going for cheap so I took it to my favorite dealer here and they were super nice. Didn't charge me to try and flash it (over 30 minutes of shop time) and suggested that it was NOT worth the price of a new one (600 for pcm, 100 to flash) with the mileage on the engine (177,000).
The durango actually drives ok with the junk yard pcm (exact model number) you just have to get use to the abs light blinking and dinging at you every 2 seconds. I pulled the fuse to stop the annoyance but now i have no abs. The rear defrosted just keeps blinking.
