Hey im looking for any secret racing cheats for a 1996 DOHC 2.0 5 speed neon. Im trying to help this guy that races it and hes racing a bone stock DOHC 2.0. This last race he started 6thgot up to third fell back to 4th then there was a caution, officials put him back to 6th, got back up to fourth and finished the race that way. The tree cars in front of him were to 4 cylinder mustangs...(rustangs) and a prelude. It was a close race but he needs just a little more ....ehem..ponys to the wheels to detroy the stangs and possibly the prelude. Preludes, stangs and escorts are always dominating at this track because they CHEAT!!!!
Does anybody know of anything small that wontr be seen that might give some more power, nothing that will efect the vacume or things like that. Would a throtlr body spacer count for anything?Thankyou![:-]

 

he could use an automatic throttle body (52mm compared to the mtx 49mm)

 

he could buy new spark plugs and wires and put them in before the race...[8D]

also get very VERY sticky aggressive street tires on the stock rims.

You could also possibly get a STS with bushings if you wanted to risk it... but that would be cheating....

To be a straight arrow and demolish the competition get:

atx tb
new plugs and wires (to use for track)
Aggressive sticky tires
take out the rear tire and everything unnecassary.
Turn off the radio and all accesseriers as possible.

I autocross with my car... so I know about class restrictions.

 

Preload the sway bars to put more down pressure on the right side this will help control body roll and improve traction in the turns.
Get some realy soft compound tires (back in the early 60's Atlas Bucrons would have been the the one to use)
Increase the caster on the front wheels.
Up your compression and run a methenol gasloline mix. (your being enviromental frendly by run gasohol HA HA)
You could also use water injection but they would spot that even though they probily woun't know what it was.
A little tap on their left rear quarter panel is also good for getting them out of your way. (but be warned the action in the pits after the race can get nasty)
If you had a V8 you could pipe a nitrous line through the inside of the bell housing through the back of the block and to the bottom of the intake.

 

advance the intake cam one tooth if you need more pull off the corner. thats my weak spot.
run a 160 degree stat,a littlepower increase there since the PCM runs more timing advance & more fuel when the engine is colder.
ATX throttle body - ream it out with a hoan if you know how, to make it bigger.
clean up the intake runners & head ports.
do some port work in the exhaust manifold
put a resistor inthe IAT sensor to tell the PCM the incoming air temp is 50 degrees.

Makes the car run rich and doesn't take the PCM that long to figure out what is happening.

 

when your racing, it works, belive me ive done it to 3 of them. it dont run too rich when you have a straight pipe for exhaust since the exhaust temps are too cold to begin with and causes it to run lean.
when its 90 degrees outside it helps tremendously.
to you guys running street cars, its no big difference. to race cars on a roundy round track a 1 HP gain is the difference between finishing 10th or finishing 3rd.
