Default 99 durango water pump removal

I need to replace the water pump on my 99 durango. How do you break the nut loose on the pulley in front of the pump to remove it ? Help appreciated.

Default RE: 99 durango water pump removal

remove the fan clutch assembly from the water pump by turning the nut counterclockwise as viewed from the front.Don't remove the fan clutch yet,you will need to remove the fan shroud bolts and clips and then remove the fan shroud and clutch assembly as a unit. Also look at how the drive belt is routed and make a diagram of it because if you rout it wrong the the water pump will be running backwards and the engine will over heat.
