Default bcm,pcm or atm

Does anyone know about these things, the BCM,PCM or the ATM. My 99 D has been stalling and then not starting back, so I have it at the Dodge dealer now and I know the PCM is under warranty but the Dodge guy I just talked with is telling me it is probably the bcm. I forgot to ask if this was under warranty too(my head cold is making me fuzzy). Does anybody know if it is? Any one else run into this with their Durango?

UPDATE: Dodge says it is the BCM(not under warranty)figures. Any dodge mechanics out there that can give me some advice on this so I am not just a unknowing woman the next time I talk to the dealer? I have not heard of this causing the problems I'm having, but have heard of the pcm causing it. Don't want to get burned, PLEASE help me.

I'm not surhow the body control module would cause the engine to stall.

Everything I have read or heard says it is the pcm. But of course I am not a mechanic, so they did not take me seriously when I said it was the PCM. Well we'll see when I get it back. I asked them what they would do for me if it didn't fix it, they said they would refund the money it cost to do the bcm. Hope so...

I would say based on your problems its either the CTM(central timer module) or the PCM.If the CTM isn't getting power or dosen't respond then the truck would start and stall or just not start at all. It could be the PCM also. Good luck with the repairs and let us know how it goes.

So you don't think the BCM will fix the problem? Have you had experience with this problem? I let the guy at Dodge know that I won't be happy if they replace the BCM and it still stalls on me, because I just wanted them to repalce the PCM, as it is under warranty, but the BCM is not. He got a little irate because I questioned him. Can't wait to prove him wrong.

I haven't had a problem with my D but a friend had the same problem that you are having and the dealer replaced the PCM first but he still had problems so he took it back and then the dealer changed out the CTM and that fixed the problem. I hope you have a good dealer because most of them can be a reall pain in the butt.

So I have my Durango back, I guess the BCM is the same as CTM, or so the mechanic said. And that is what they replaced. So far so good, but we will see, I have only driven it 50 miles so far. Thanks for all your help and input. I will let you know if it did not fix it.

Well unfortunately my Dodge dealer was wrong! My husband took the D to Detroit this week to work and it has stalled twice on him. We are both very upset and tired of the headaches this vehicle has brought, we paid too much for this hunk of crap. I told them it was the PCM, but of course I am just a woman, I told them I have researched this they did not care. Their little mechanic got all poed when I questioned them, and now look I was not so stupid after all. But that does not help the fact that my husband is 400 miles away driving an unreliable expensive piece of s**t in DETROIT. I am selling this, REALLY, anyone interested? So it was not the CTM, although I do think that was not working also, because now my doors lock when I get to 10-15 mph. I am buying a TOYOTA. Good luck all you Durango owners.

Sorry to hear that your D is giving you all this grief. But judging from your problems, I think it is more of your dealer at fault here for not taking care of you and your D and not the D's fault. I am very lucky that my dealership here in Dallas area (Bankston Dodge) really listens to its consumers. I have a great relationship with the service manager there. When I had the cruise control surging issue, they bent over backwards to try to solve it. Spent a couple of days with my D trying to figure it out, they gave me a rental car while they were doing this. When all is said and done, they still cannot figure it out as the computer was not giving any codes. Then I spoke to them about the TPS sensor that this forum was talking about to solve the problem. The service manager went ahead and replaced the sensor for me even tho this would not be covered under my current warranty because the computer did not show any codes. Since then, I had no more problems with the cruise control. Now I take my D to them for some of the general maintenance just to keep in touch with my service manager and see how things are going!

Maybe you can switch dealers and find one that will listen to your problems and actually consider some of your possible solutions.

As far as your doors locking themselves when you reach 10-15 mph, that is suppose to be normal? Most late model Chrysler autos that I have driven, the doors auto lock themselves when you reach 10-15 mph. It's another one of Chrysler's safety features and I love them for this particular feature. Especially when you have kids in the car and sometimes forget to enable the child safety lock in the back doors where the kids cannot open from the inside.
