Default 95 strat tranny

I have a 1995 stratus that my neighbor gave me for free bc it needed a tranny, i replaced the tranny and all of a sudden i started having problems with it. when i am driving, all of a sudden the tranny will stop working (i will step on the gas and the car wont go faster) the rpms rev high, and when i get down to about 30 mph the car will jerk and i will only have first gear...its an automatic so i dont know y it wont shift out of first, if i turn the car off and back on...the tranny works again for about maybe 10-20 min and it will do it all over again....please tell me whats wrong

If this is a new tranny, you might want to have the PCM, and electronics on the tranny checked. If they don't get the right signal they might not allow the clutch plates to engage.
