Default Some questions...

I currently own a 01 Lightning and in the spring will be at 100K...

I have been very satisfied with the Lightning and was planning to get the next generation Lightning at this time next year, however the Lightning has been placed on an indefinate hold to move the Shelby Cobra into production.
I can't wait for the rumored 08' release so i'm strongly considering an SRT-10.
I tow a small jet boat- 1500 lbs total weight...tongue weight is maybe 50 lbs...

These are my questions:

I know Dodge doesn't recommend it but is it feesable to install a hitch and tow such a small amount without hosing the tranny?

Has anyone installed a hitch, tow with their truck and do you have pictures of the installed hitch?

I have heard the rumors about a regular cab SRT-10 with an automatic and if it goes into production i'm sure that will meet all of my needs.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The quad cab SRT10 is suitable for towing.

Yes, the regular cab manual tranny is not meant to tow, it will void the warranty. The coming soon Quad Cab SRT-10 Ram CAN tow however...

How far and how often would you be towing?

500hp and 500lb torque, its got to be able to tow something. What in the world in the tranny is that weak if it can handle that kind of power output? A pair of jetskis, a very light boat (such as your jet boat) an ATV or two...that kind of stuff won't hurt them. I don't have one but thats common sense.

I don't tow very often (maybe a dozen times a year) and travel to the Colorado River probably half the time (200 miles each way)...
I don't really like the quad cab (I'm hoping that Dodge will add an auto option to the Ram in the near future).

So no one has added a hitch?
