Default noooob install question

Got my mopar sts and booger bushings in from modernperformance. I am working on the shifter (the clips are a royal pain the ***). Now, where the heck do the bushings go? God, I hate being a noob! </P>

Never mind. Took forever, but I got it. I put two of the bushings where the shifter linkage hooks up to, hope thats right. So, where do the other two bushings go?</P><edited><editID>svtf_srt4</editID><editDate>38001.817650463</editDate></edited>

Remove the air box, battery, battery tray and there right there. Also put the shifter in neutral it makes it much easier. Use a flat screw driver to pop the cable's from the transmission. Useing the same screw driver push the old buishings out from the bottom up. When you install the new bushings 1. Make sure the cable is not fliped over. 2. Install the big end of the bushing pointing down toward the transmission. 3. make damn sure they are on tight, lightly(LIGHTLY) tap them down with a hammer. You don't want them to come loose. replace everything and go bang some gears.

Alright, today I installed the 3"atp down pipe with no cat. Everything went smooth and fine till I got to sliding the new rear peice into the stock exhaust. It will not go inat all. It has been my expereince that exhausts like this are supposed to slide right in, then you tighten the clamp down. But, this thing slides in just a slight bit, then is stuck and will not go in any further. Please help!</P><edited><editID>svtf_srt4</editID><editDate>38003.8021180556</editDate></edited>

If you have access to a torch you can heat the pipe to get it to expand so the other pipe will slide in without a problem. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

No, no torch handy. I used some wd40 and some grease. Took forever, and its still not all the way in. Got it to where It will be good enough. I am going to need to work on it more, but just ran out of time. Next weekend Ill try to get a torch and heat that mother up. BTW, it sounds pretty sick. Next in is the rfl bov and k&amp;n cai/shortram. Thatll hold me over to the real mods begin.

Though i don't recommend doing this in Mom's kitchen, take the part and heat it up in the oven, max heat. Be sure to wear somethick gloves, should slide on with no problem leave it in on high heat for thirty to forty minutes. Had to to that to a friendsdown pipe on aricer...worked fine.</P>

P.S. Don't get caught driving with no cat, the tree huggers will hang you!</P>

Well, considering who I work for I doubt any tree hugger will have too much to say to me, and hopefully my buddies wont write me a ticket.Besides that Ihave put 4cyls on thesniffer and seen them pass.Furthermore, all that stuff aboutcars polluteis abunch of bs. Therehave been so many test that prove this, but as long as the government is making a ridiculous amount of money off of polution controls, then who is going stop it?</P>

Also, doesnt the heat expand the part? Wouldnt I need the "female" part of the exhaust heated? The down pipe is the "male" part, so wouldnt heating it up make it expand and make it even harder to put in?</P>

Yes, you need to heat the female part. You can also help by freezing the male part to help it contract making it slightly smaller. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">
