Default Alternate tire size for 255/65

I've read that you can use 275/60/r15 as an alternate size to the original 255/65/r15 tires. Has anyone made this change, and do the new tires rub on the wheel wells when turning? Also, is there a preference between the "Road Hugger Radial G/T" and the "BF Goodrich Radial T/A"?</P>

Forgive me if I sound rude, but please take a look at your tires again. If your Dakota is wearing 255/65's on it I think there's a real good chance your wheels are 16 inchers. I believe late model Daks with 15" wheels left the factory wearing 215/75 rubber. At any rate check the tire swapping calculator at www. enos.com/tirecalc/ for help on this topic. According to the calculator, for the swap you mentioned, you would have a tire with a diameter 2" greater than you now have. When your speedo says 60, you'd running down the road at 64.5mph. If the original tires on your truck were 215/75/15's that were then replaced with 255/65's the new 275/60/15's would put you much closer to the original diameter. When your speedo says 60 you'd be rolling along at 60.6mph. All this assumes the speedometer was not recalibrated for the 255/65/15's.
