My 2000 Ram can take either a 6X9 or a 6.5 speaker in the front doors. It currently has 6.5s, but I need to replace them. I have always felt that a round speaker is better for bass response since the cone moves more uniformly and doesn't bind like a 6X9 due to its shape. But the shape of a 6X9 gives a wider dispersion angle and they tend to handle higher power better. What do you think? Should I stick with the rounds or go with a 6X9 design? Thanks!

As they sit, id say there is not any substantial difference in base output. I would go with 6 1/2 in components and a good outboard amplifier. Then if you want even more base id start with say a powered sub or more depending on what your wanting for output and whether accuracy or boom. Hope that helps.
