Hey all, I've got me some new infinity 6X9's. Just wondering ifI can replace my crap 1996 speakers with them.A pin-out of the speaker would be helpful.I got them in payment, yada, yada.. I'm an electronics tech, I haven't had any experience with the infinity system. from what i've seen in various websites, the wiring diagrams are a state secret or something, because I've yet to find anything!
Thanks
Umm techman, sorry but you're wrong again, 1: He can hook up an aftermarket radio just fine. The Dodge Infinity systems are not Digital like some Bose and Harman Kardon systems are. 2: Hooking in after the amp will not hurt the aftermarket amplifier. If he's using a LOC or using the High-level inputs on the amp, it's looking for an amplified signal. That would only be true if he was hooking into the low-level inputs on the amplifier, even then, it shouldnt hurt anything, it would just be a lot louder. It's not great for it, but it shouldnt damage anything. It also won't hurt the factory amplifier because the impedence will not change significantly because the resistenace of the line-out converter, and the input side of the amp has VERY little resistance. So adding a very small resistence in parallel to another does not change the NET impedence by a significant amount.
Ive installed many a radio in 04 Rams and there is no problem with it. The turn on for thefactory amp is a simple (+) trigger that simply needs to be hooked to the amp turn-on wire of the new headunit.

Good info. I have an Alpine CDA-9833 in my Ram right now, and I was thinking about rigging up a subwoofer in a prefab box for the time being until I can get some custom work done.
I'll throw in my 2 cents of experience with this subject, even though it was on a different vehicle. My buddy owns an Acrua RSX with the Bose amplified system. We attempted to install a subwoofer amp to the car using a line output convertor (LOC). On our first try we hooked it up to one of the rear speakers, and the output was horrible. We had to crank the gain up more than 3/4 of the way to get anything decent. Since we had a DMM handy we measured the RCA voltage coming out of the LOC and it was reading at barely 45mV. I think thats the BARE minimum an amp needs to see in order to operate, but don't quote me on that.
We eventually moved the LOC and installed it AFTER the BOSE subwoofer amp in the spare tire well. Again using our DMM we measured the voltage and it read a healthy 1 V and some change. Satisfied with that we put everything back together and the difference in output was nigh and day! Not saying this will always work, but it definately won't kill anything.
i have the same problem with my 07 ram i hooked up the loc behind the radio and when i turn the volume down all i can hear is the subs because they don't respond to the volume control. I guess i am going to hook it up from the amp. i've been putting it off because i don't feel like dealing with the mess under the glovebox.
Yeah... I do have to make a correction to my previous post about Dodge Infinity Systems not being digital. The 2007 RamInfinity system DID switch to a digital LAN setup. That's why you guys are having problems with the LOC behind the radio. The NON-Infinity systems are still a standard setup with a 70-6502 wiring harness, the new system in the 07 must either be bypassed, or use Metra/Axxess LAN adapter (Part # CHTO-01) if you are changing the factory radio for an aftermarket. This is only for the Ram. Other 07-up Chryslers with Inifnity take a different adapter or non at all.
Even the Non-amplified systems will say you need a special adapter. All that is, is to convert the can-bus signal to get an accessory wire behind the radio. Save some money and use the standard harness and just run the accessory wireto the fuse panel. On the Rams, you can get it right at the cig lighter right there near the radio.
