Question Amplifier wiring

I'm planning on hooking up an audio amplifier in my 2014 Dodge Avenger to run a subwoofer in the trunk. However, the car's battery is apparently inside the front fender, and it appears that I'll have to take the front wheel off to get to it. Aside from the obvious annoyance factor, I'm concerned about potential water exposure to the amplifier connection, in particular to the in-line fuse housing that I'm going to install.

My question: Is it safe, for both car and amplifier, to connect the 12V line for the amp to the positive remote terminal in the engine compartment instead of directly to the battery? Thanks!

Should be remote battery connections in the engine compartment. Put there in case the vehicle needs to be jump started.
