Installed a new CD player in an Infinity equipped vehicle and now have no sound?
It's probablythe factory amp trigger wire was not hooked up. You need to connect the blue/white remote turn on lead wire of the aftermarket unit to the remote amp or power antenna wire(usually blue) on the car stereo wiring harness that you bought or was provided with the new unit.
Have a truck and want to add subs, but don't know where to install them?
If you have an ext. cab, many companies make boxes that are custom built to fit under the rear seat. These boxes can come preloaded with sub(s) and an amp, just sub(s), or just the box itself. If you have the middle seat that will come out by itself you can get a box to go there as well. Don't forget you can always build these boxes YOURSELF. You will save some money and learn a few things in the process. If you build a box for the middle seat you will lose the storage space and the ability to carry passengers there. But you can get shallow mount subs that will give you the ability to make a small enough box that you could cover with the factory cloth and storage unit. This would take a lot of work to do and most people would not be willing to do, but it is do-able. If you have a single cab you can take the plastic cargo holders out and put a truck box behind the seat(s). Another option would be to buy a Bazooka bass tube. The Bazooka can be used behind the seat of a single cab or under the rear seat of an ext. cab. They can be bought with or without a built in amplifier.
Sound Deadener
This is one of the best things to do to a vehicle in my opinion. Most people only think of deadening if they are having rattles and deadening is obviously a great solution to that. But will also make stock and aftermarket speakers alike have better mid-bass and will quite down the cabin, so you can hear more musical detail and you wont have to turn up the volume as loud to hear. There has been alot of talk about this kind and that kind....alot of it is the same. If it is asphalt based it is more than likely no different than all the other companies and could....probably smell bad and could peel back off in hotter weather. If you are really low on cash you can go to Lowes and get Peel and Seal roof patch. It is pretty much the exact same thing as the asphalt based deadeners, but a bit cheaper and readily available. Butyl is what you want, it may be a little more expensive, but is worth it to me. Doesnt smell, holds alot better and is jst a better product. Sound Deadener Showdown Great site to look at!
