Question of the Week: Should the Ram 1500 come with a manual transmission option?
It is as simple as that...since the introduction of the 4th gen Ram 1500, only the SRT10 has been offered with a manual transmission but Hemi owners like myself want a manual transmission option. Do you think that Chrysler should offer a manual transmission for a non-high performance edition Ram 1500?

I looked around and Ive been unable to find anything that shows that there was a non-diesel, non-Viper powered Ram offered after the end of the second generation with a manual trans. I know that the 2g Rams used the NV3500 but I cannot find anything about them being used after the second generation. The last half ton trucks that I recall for sure were the late 2nd gen 5.9 "work truck" models that were stripped down with the 360, a manual trans and a heavy duty suspension.

I hate to say it, Mr. Admin, but to me, your argument is officially dead. lol

My "argument" had less to do with the fact of when they stopped offering it and more with the fact that people still want it...but I can make changes in my first post as needed. i certainly dont claim to know every single fact about every dodge vehicle made...just most of them.
So its looking like what, 2008 was the final year for a 1500 manual transmission, non srt?
Ironically, I dont search the forums when looking for facts like what came equipped with what. After all, I have a 340/727 powered Mirada but Chrysler never built one with that drivetrain.

Yeah, looks like 2008, since 4th gen came out in 09.
I shall rest now.
Apologies if I came off as obnoxious.

alright...i fixed the initial post. i think that i recall that we did have a mod for a while with a V6 3rd gen with a manual transmission but im sure that ive never seen a 3rd gen V8 manual transmission truck in person.
when i worked as a mechanic, i had a regular customer with a 2g ram with a 360 and manual transmission but i dont know for a fact that he didnt install it himself. he had some minor work done to it like headers, exhaust and gears and that truck was a blast to drive...although the super long shifter was a bit bus-like. when you would powershift that truck, it would put a serious smoking to the tires. it started as a beat up work truck and ended up a reasonably quick beat up work truck.
