Default Question of the Week: What Drivetrain Should Power the SRT Dart?

So when the SRT Dart arrives, what drivetrain should provide the power?

I voted for "Turbocharged 4 Cylinder, All Wheel Drive" for the following reasons:

1. 4 cylinder to keep the heritage of the Neon SRT4
2. AWD as a lesson learned from the Focus ST. anything close to 300hp and FWD is nothing but a torque steer monster.
3. leave the 6 cylinder for a possible SRT Cherokee or 2015 Avenger/Barracuda.

I second it. Those are the exact reasons why I choose the turbo inline 4. But the SRT4 model needs the 2.4 tigershark boosted to at minimum 300 hp and 250 ft lbs, 6 speed manual, AWD. If the tigershark makes anything less then 250 hp. The aftermarket industry might just explode with new products to give it over 350hp. AWD is required with anything that small making more then 225 hp, hopefully they learn from Audi and some German's. AWD could really make the dart a full on competitor with modified ricer straight off the lots. 0-60 needs to be under 3.5 seconds.

A Dart SRT-4 should be at minimum a 300+hp AWD if not AWS to compete against the Lancer Evo.

I don't think Dodge can compete on the 4cyl level with the imports so they should tweak a version of the pentastar and at least have one thing in common with the original dart whereas you get something big stuffed into a little non assuming cheap package. Let's not forget that people who want a 4cup rice cooker buy a ricer. I have one out of memory of a late sister but would much rather have the bigger 6cyl any day of the week.

I voted 4Cyl Turbo AWD

You don't need a V6 to get the power.
V6 clog up the engine bay, weigh more and cause steering response issue's, are just very expensive to maintain.
The weight distro is much better with a 4cyl and with the Technology these days and variable turbo's, there's no need for a V6 in a small car like that.
Ford is proving V8's useless already with their V6 Turbo trucks. Bigger IS NOT better in cars.

No you don't need a v6 but they need to figure out their 4cyl before branding something an SRT. Either way, anything branded Dart-SRT has to have at least 300HP, preferably AWD or at least RWD.

After finding out the next generation Chrysler 200 will have the same choice of engines as the jeep Cherokee, 2.4L 4cyl or 3.2L 6cyl, I think I have to change my vote.

For all intents and purposes the new 200 will be a dart but with Chrysler badging. If its gonna be in the 200 put it in the dart as well, just give be a one turbo charged with AWD.
