Exclamation Attention all members

Effective immediately, the OTM section will no longer be running. This is not permanent in anyway and the section will return at a later time.

Over the last few months, there has been alot of bickering on who is in the running, who is not, and people are taking the OTM runnings very personal making very bad calls on the comments that are being posted.

Yes this is a forum and yes the only thing that we have here are words to portray our feelings, but some of the comments were flat out bashing members, moderators and administrators. The OTM section was implemented for the members to add a little fun to the site, and it got carried away. Because of this, we lost alot of members, and also several members that stayed around would just not come into the section to participate. When we can have hundreds of members online at once and only get a 100 votes in one thread and half that in the other, it just is no contest and no fun to watch.

The mods and admin have been discussing different things over the last few months and have tried a couple small changes, however we have failed miserably to get a plan together that worked for the best for everyone.

So now we have no choice but to remove the OTM runnings for the time being, take it back to the drawing board and come out with something fresh. The developers are going to be looking into the programming of the forum to see if we can change the way the polls are handled. We have alot of ideas, but as regular admin/mods, we don't have much access to the actual development of the site. We are also going to be talking about how to break the sections up for the runnings again. The biggest thing is that we, the mods and admin, are discussing the individual sections to see what we can do to get every section more active here at the DF. Most of you know that right now, most of the really active members here are truck owners, but we want DF back to being just that, A DODGE FORUM with all of our cars and trucks here. We are moving mods around, the forum sections may change locations and looks, or whatever. So the next time you log on, you may see something different. Please don't hesitate to comment on anything over in the "Forum Suggestion" section if you see something that you like or dislike or you just have an idea to make the forum better. Every idea will be taken into consideration, but also remember, not every idea can actually be done, but you are the members and we want you to be happy here as well.

So with all that being said, I am done rambling on. Before you comment, READ THE WHOLE POST!!!!!

Hope you guys can find a solution, as OTM is always fun. I think the heart of the matter is just like real life, people tend to vote for their own kind or friends regardless of issues.

Is there anyway to isolate the contest so that truck owners can only vote in VOTM and vice versa to eliminate bias?

Why dont you guys just eliminate the chat/forum under OTM and have voting ONLY...then if people want to voice their opinion, they can elsewhere.

ya the no chat would be good. only let the people list their mods, and thats it. and have you found out how to make the voting hidden yet? I think that would be a big plus!

Glad no one is getting to upset about this and the comments that you guys are leaving are great. The more the better. Gives me and the other mods something to work with.

Keep in mind though that this is something that is not going to happen overnight. So be patient, IT WILL BE BACK!!!! I promise.

i think no posting except for the ones in the running, and hiding the votes would take care of the problem. Hiding the votes would allow a more fair contest, and no posting would eliminate the opportunity for bashing.

Hiding the votes is something we've been trying to get for ages, but the tech weenies at IB are lazy...
